Awards

The Congress Technical Committee will judge and present awards for the “Best Written Paper” within each discipline (Additive Manufacturing, Aerodynamics, Aircraft Design, Aircraft Systems (On Board & Off-Board), Airworthiness and Regulations, Avionics, Composite Structures, Health & Usage Monitoring Systems, Mission Systems, Operations & Support, Propulsion, Structures & Materials, and a “Best Overall Congress Paper”. The student papers will also be judged separately for a “Best Student Paper” award.

The Awards will comprise of a “Plaque” with Logos and Award type; and “Certificate” endorsed by the AIAC17 Chair.

The best paper awards will be presented at the Congress Banquet.

Sir Lawrence Hargrave Award 

The Lawrence Hargrave Award is the highest honour presented by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), Australian Division, and is granted to an Australian who has made an outstanding contribution to Australian aerospace.The Award is presented every two years and aligned with the biennial Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition held at Avalon in February-March of odd-numbered years. In 2017 the will be Award being formally presented in the evening at the Australian International Aerospace Congress (AIAC17) Banquet and Awards (Monday, 27 February 2017). It will be presented by the President of the RAeS Australian Division, Mr John Vincent. This award follows in the tradition of the Society’s UK-based awards which have long been regarded as the pinnacle of achievement in the aviation industry
